What is cryolipolysis (fat freezing) and how does it work?

Fat freezing is a non-surgical procedure that involves the freezing of fat cells resulting in a smoother contour to the treated body area. During treatment, a special medically-certified suction device is applied to the desired area to cool the fat. Over time, the fat cells die and are broken down and excreted, whereas skin and other body cells remain unaffected by the freezing.

Cryolipolysis versus liposuction

Both “lipofreeze” and liposuction reduce fat permanently from treated body areas. However, the non-invasive procedure of cryolipolysis results in mild permanently fat sculpting whereas the surgical procedure liposuction involves actual removal of the fat.  Advantages of cryolipolysis over liposuction include: lower risk of complications, no general anaesthetic, no down time, limited side effects (mild and transient bruising, swelling and redness), simple aftercare routine. Another plus point is the lower average cost per treatment of cryolipolysis compared to liposuction. On the average two fat freezing treatments of one body zone  cost $ 1500 whereas liposuction usually costs between $ 3000 – 4000.

Which body zones can be treated by fat freezing?

Fat freezing can sculpt the following body areas: arms, belly, calves, chin, knees, love handles, saddle bags and thighs.

The fat freezing cost also includes an aftercare appointment. In several of ICE AESTHETIC cryolipolysis clinics the price of a fat freezing treatment also includes a subsequent shock wave therapy. This therapy is intended to create more muscle relaxation and lead to a better result of the fat freezing treatment.

To get the best results from your cryolipolysis treatment it is recommended that you have two treatment sessions 4 weeks apart, and follow the aftercare advice given. For the price cryolipolysis is excellent value for money.

Selecting the best cryolipolysis clinic

Although it may be tempting to have cryolipolysis treatment administered by untrained staff with non-certified technical devices to save money, it is a false economy as such treatment is unlikely to be effective and comes with health risks. For peace of mind, select a clinic with medical-trained staff and medically certified cryolipolysis devices. For a reasonable price cryolipolysis sessions at a reputable clinic can permanently improve your contours!
